Project Aim
Love Wales works to strengthen community pride, improve the quality of the local environment, and encourage behaviour change through volunteering and social action projects.
Main Objectives
- Reduce litter and improve the quality of the local environment
- Promote sustainable behaviours such as recycling and reducing plastic use
- Support the creation of community groups and new partnerships that will continue the work beyond the UK Shared Prosperity Fund funding period
Local Highlights (2022–2025)
- Used Ribride boats to transport volunteers to hard-to-reach coastal areas of Anglesey for beach cleans
- Established a Litter Hub at Wrexham Wellbeing Hub to support green prescriptions
- Collaborated in Flintshire with community partners and the County Council to develop a long-term maintenance plan for ‘alleyways’ areas
- Worked with Llanfairfechan Town Council to ensure ongoing community commitment beyond initial events
Regional Achievements
- Created 2,237 volunteering opportunities across four counties
- Recorded 6,673 hours of volunteering through litter-picking and clean-up activities
- Established new Litter Hubs, Litter Champions, and Litter-Free Zones
- Increased engagement with schools, businesses, and community organisations
Impact
The initiative, together with local communities, has delivered environmental and social benefits across North Wales, creating a strong foundation for long-term sustainability and community-led action.
