Connah’s Quay: Designing Out Crime and Revitalising Community Spaces
Project Name:
Flintshire Town Centre Investment Programme
Local Authority:
Flintshire
Lead Organisation:
Flintshire County Council
Dock Road in Connah’s Quay is undergoing a major transformation thanks to £290,000 from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, part of Flintshire County Council’s £1.5 million Town Centre Investment Programme.
The project aims to improve safety, reduce anti-social behaviour, and enhance the area’s appeal for residents, businesses, and visitors.
Key improvements include:
- Installation of CCTV, street lighting, and 100 security bollards
- Designated safety ladders and tidying of hedgerows and boatyard areas
- Planned enhancements to green spaces, public seating, and gated access designed with local schools
- A new events area for community use and potential vendors
The Kathleen and May Community Centre has also been refurbished and will now host Connah’s Quay Sea Cadets and other local groups, offering upgraded facilities and a renewed space for community engagement.
This collaborative effort between Flintshire County Council, North Wales Police, Natural Resources Wales, and Connah’s Quay Town Council is breathing new life into a historically significant part of the town.
