Conwy Community Regeneration Key Fund – Positive Impact of Funding Across Conwy

Project Name:

Conwy Community Regeneration Key Fund

Local Authority:

Conwy

Lead Organisation:

Conwy County Borough Council

Conwy County Borough Council has successfully delivered the Community Regeneration Key Fund, distributing over £5 Million, at the end of the funding period, from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to 70 community-focused projects across the county. The fund empowered local groups, public bodies, and enterprises to lead regeneration efforts that enhance Conwy’s environmental, economic, social, and cultural wellbeing.

Projects range from museum and library refurbishments to play area upgrades, community gardens, and cultural initiatives. Highlights include:

  • Penmaenmawr Museum: Expanded arts and heritage programmes.
  • Llanfairfechan, Kinmel Bay & Uwchaled Libraries: Transformed into vibrant community hubs.
  • Dolgarrog’s Dyfodol y Garrog: Created a new community space and edible garden.
  • Clocswyr Conwy: Promoted Welsh clog dancing among youth.
  • Play Areas: 43 sites upgraded with new surfacing and equipment.
  • Owain Glyndwr Garden: Converted abandoned space into a community orchard.

These projects have had a direct impact in the heart of our towns and villages – all brought to fruition by working in, and with, our communities.
— Cllr Nigel Smith, Conwy County Borough Council
